Effective December 1, 2009, Board Rules governing the prescribing of controlled substances by Physician Assistants were adopted as emergency rules. The rules were published for public comment in the Alabama Administrative Monthly, then in February 2010 were adopted as final rules with an effective date of March 24, 2010.
The Rules contain the requirements for the issuance of a Qualified Alabama Controlled Substances Registration (QACSC) to P.A.s, renewal and utilization of a QACSC, and grounds for denial and discipline of a QACSC.
